An Irish business proudly established in 2017, based in Annyalla near Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan
With over a decade experience working in and researching the musical instrument industry, we have developed a range of high quality, handcrafted musical instruments and accessories for both consumers and professionals.
We carefully design and build a range of custom accessoeries for musicians; pickups, guitars, basses, guitar leads and other audio cables, speakers and more. Providing musicians with the best sounding audio chain, from finger tips to ears, at an affordable price. A more ethical and reliable alternative to larger organisations who cut costs at every oppertunity and outsource most of their production.
As well as hand made products for musicians, we offer services repairing, setting up and upgrading guitars, basses, other stringed instruments and audio equipment.
Trying to live, work and produce in a sustainable and ethical way isn’t always easy. But when you end up choosing an ethical and sustainable product the rewards speak for themselves. Moondot Music was established to produce and supply ethical and sustainable products for musicians.
Our materials are selected with care and consideration for people and the planet. We use local suppliers and ethically sourced materials, using Irish woods; walnut, yew, ash, holly, where possible. Our instruments can be made plastic free, with cloth covered wires, wood and metal alternatives for pickups, scratch plates and cover plates.
We can make vegan friendly instruments. It is surprising how many animal products can be found in a guitar; glue, finish, abalone inlays, bone nuts and saddles. We are delighted to be featured in this article ‘Moving Towards A More Humane Industry: The Impact of Using Animal Products in Guitars‘ in She Shreds, a magazine dedicated to female guitarist and bassists.
We work hard to ensure that all products offered fit closely within our ethical policy and that goods we source have not come from exploitative practices.
Our workshop is based in Annyalla, County Monaghan. If you are interested, you can visit the workshop and see the variety of things we get up to; designing and crafting instruments and all the accessories handmade in our workshop; fixing all manner of connectors and cables for any custom lead needs; a selection of exotic and native woods to peruse for custom instrument builds or the like.
